Within this unit of foundations, we had to make a poster about a social justice that needed the attention and what I chose was Freedom of speech: Teenagers Voice.

What do you know about the elements of design and social justice? What I know about the elements of design is that it includes color, line, texture, shape, point, form and space.
These elements all mostly supports any type of artwork whether its on the computer or a drawing. Social justice is based on the concepts of human rights and equality, and can be used in action such as posters or even a march. There are in total of 4 principles of social justice which is access, equity, rights, participation. What do you need to know about creating a visually pleasing poster that has impact on the audience? What I need to know is how big will the poster be to know how much space that I will be needing to take up but to also know what will the audience see more or less of. What resources are you using to get the information that you need? The resources that I will need to be using in order to get my information is notes, notebook, computer, teacher, as well as my peers.

What is the problem? Making the poster about the social justice that needs to happen. What are the requirements? We must research a topic, make a blog post on it, use a 12 x 18 poster and we must use everything from top to bottom and from side to side, must contain a shape that represents the social change, must have a slogan or saying or statement. What are the constraints? We must use no more than 3 colors excluding black and white, In the blog post we must have 3 paragraphs with 3-5 sentences each. At least 3 images and to use our own words if not then it’s a 0. Who is your audience and what are you trying to change in society? My audience is directly towards teenagers as well as
adults and what I’m trying to change in society is for teenagers voices to be heard. What I mean by this is that often adults think that us teenagers opinion are selfish or that we are too ignorant but that’s just a stereotypical thing towards the teenagers cause not all are like this. Most, as a matter of fact, opinions are very valid and deserve to be heard on anything. For example, politics. It’s something that mainly adult’s take care of but if sometimes us teenagers understand what even is politics and what its doing in our society and would love to put an input since it’s also affecting us and would love to help for the better cause.
Design-
Design 1
-I believe that this is good because is has the speaker phone and at least 2 shapes and can even include at least more than 2 colors.
I feel like design number 1 will be more successful because it shows more of “speak your voice” with the speaker phone with a thought bubble in front of it making it go out to be heard. The factor that helped me was the thought bubble and the lines in front to make it seem like its going out.
Design 2
– It shows the speech bubble to show communication
– Although, it seems more of a conversation than “make your voice heard”
Design 3
-This is good because I believe it still does follow the concept of what I want to do
-Although, It only follows up with a small shape of a triangle and doesn’t seem like I can use more than one color.

What are the materials needed for this design? The things that I will need for my design is poster paper, pencil, ruler, and sketch. Write any problems you have and any changes you made to your designs and why. The only problem I mainly had was making it look like the sketch since I feel like it looks more different and the thought bubble looks like food. The change that I made was from a brain to a thought a bubble so it’s more of an opinion being thought of rather then it being spoken to make it trap since certain people want to block out the voice/opinion of teenagers.
