Thaumatrope Experiment

During this unit of digital animation, we looked back at the history as to when animation had all started. When looking back, we study the style of Thaumatrope. The Thaumatrope is of an optical toy. This required a disc and with two different images on each side that still complimented each other. After doing so, poke two holes at the sides then tie a string within each side. After finishing, you spin and the illusion should mix both drawings mashing them together allowing it to create a “Story” With my own Thaumatrope, I created a simple campfire. One side being the grass and tree as well as the tent. While in the other side, it was the fire, stars and the moon. There werent much challenged since it was a simple design and the drawing didn’t take too long to create since its of my own signature drawing and I’d figure to that. Throughout the history of animation, there was a time of evolution where animation then took off. It all started with the phenakistoscope. This set the future to animation as well as a major milestone due to the fact that this was able to allow and create a fluid illusion to the human eye. From here, animation was set.
