For this foundation class project, we did the typeface project. What this means is that we were able to create our own font! This project was very exciting because it put our creativity to the test. Allow me to explain in the design thinking process.
Discover-
For this project, what do I already know about typeface, typography, and font? What I know about these topics is that blackletter is the first font made used for communication

and many other things. Typeface is define as a particular design of type. What do I need to know about typeface design? How much are we allowed to add to our design? What resources will I be using to get the information that I need? We are using our laptops, other examples of students in this class in the past years. Other examples on google images and our timeline.
Define-
For this stage, I must know more about my project. So, what is my problem? Finding what design to make. What are the requirements? The few requirements are to make a design with straight lines, use shapes like squares, rectangles, triangles. What are the constraints? There can’t be any curves, It can’t be the same from any other from previous design or anyone. How will I be using this information to to acquire to define my project? I am using this information so I know my limit or what I need to know in order for my design to be acceptable.
Design-

Design letter A is what started it all and I say this because I believe that it is the letter that really stands out to be gothic which was the theme that I was mostly trying to achieve with every letter. The important factor that helped me was that the sharp edges and the top rectangle really brings it. Even though this design is something that I’m impressed that I can do, there is still minor errors of some good and bad things. One good thing is that, I stuck with the shading throughout all of my letters. However, one bad thing is that, I feel like I didn’t stick with the gothic design as much as I wanted to but, the gothic still pops out in each letter.
Develop-
The few supplies that I will need is a pencil, ruler, computer, and graphing paper. These are the things that I will be using for my design. The only problem I mostly had was just finding my design and writing down each letter. Finding the design was very challenging because in the beginning I wasn’t sure with what theme I really wanted to go for but I was able to find one. The second problem I had was that, it was very hard and challenging to be able to make sure that each letter fit with the theme. I felt with each letter that I continued making, the gothic was fading away and I kept trying to make sure that I was able to keep it.
Deliver-
My design did meet all the requirement because I made sure that I used straight lines and added this following pattern of a rectangle in each letter. As well as, It did meet the constraints because there weren’t any curve lines and it was my own design unlike anyone else’s and it was very different in my own way.
